2026 Canadian XCO Championships: Course and venue
For a second year, Canadian cross country national championships are being held at Jordie Lunn Bike Park in Langford, B.C. The Vancouver Island venue, on the outskirts of Victoria, is a newer trail centre with a pump track, several dirt jump lines, multi-use tracks and a dense but surprisingly extensive network of purpose built single track.
The course for XCO championships follows the same route as the Canada Cup earlier this spring. It is a 5km loop with about 175m elevation gain and loss each lap.
The course heads out from the main start/finish area onto the first part of the climb trail (Initial Attack) before cutting out and climbing up a Wildcat, a downhill flow trail, to rejoin the second part of the climb trail, Wonderland. The first descent is down Peanut Butter Knife Fight, a mix of rocky tech and fast flow with a couple wood bridges and larger jumps. From there, the course takes the other climb route, Slow Burn, up to the top of the other side of JLBP. A fast rip down the sweeping corners of Berm Reynolds drops racers down to the bottom of the course for a short gravel connection to the final kick back up into the start/finish area.

XCC Championships
Racing started on Thursday with the short track cross country (XCC) championship events. Ella MacPhee and Carter Woods earn the elite maple leaf jerseys. See our full race report from that event for category results and photos.
Masters championships
On Friday, masters racers had their chance at a championship race. Sue Haviland wins the master’s women’s B title while Kelly Welbourn wins the master women’s C race.
Jimmy Giroux takes the Master A men’s title, Vancouver Island local Tom Skinner the Master B men’s title, and Bob Welbourn the master C men’s championship.
Under-17 men and women
In the under-17 men’s race, Joshua Tyers (Ontario / Hot Tubes) doubles up, with an XCO national title to match his XCC win from Thursday. Mathis Malois (Club Cycliste de l’Academie) 21 seconds behind with James Pinfold right on his wheel.
In the under-17 Women’s race, Hannah Lehmann (Ontario / Collingwood Collective) takes a solid win, crossing the line 1:29 ahead of second place after four laps at JLBP. Anna Christensen (Ontario / Shredders Race Team) earns second place with teammate Nicole Haviland (Shredders Race Team), who takes a close third ahead of Megan Rolland (CVM Sigma Assurance).

Ethan Wood wins back-to-back Junior men’s XCO titles on Vancouver Island.
Junior Men: Woods wins again
In the junior men’s race, a large field quickly whittled down to a leading duo. 2025 junior champ Ethan Wood (Charge Racing) and Thursday’s XCC champion Emilien Belzile (Pittstop Racing). Woods, who also won this spring’s Canada Cup season opener on this course.
Wood attacked again with two to go, quickly building an advantage on the course’s steepest section. Belzile follows across the line in second place with Evan Moore (Collingwood Collective) winning a solid fight for third place.
Elaine Blais wins the junior women’s XCO title two days after taking the XCC championships.
Junior Women: Eliane Blais doubles up
Eliane Blais added another big result for the small-but-mighty Pittstop Racing Team. After proving her raw speed on Thursday with an XCC title, Blais stormed off the front of the junior women’s field early and didn’t look back.
Alexa Haviland (Shredders Racing Team) was the last rider to hold Blais’s wheel, eventually crossing the line in second place. Lacey Dennis (Charge Racing) rounds out the podium in third.
