The Dallas Wings’ perfect July continued with a home win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday.
But the 90-82 win at College Park Center in Arlington was marred by a late injury to star point guard Paige Bueckers.
With 3:32 left in the fourth quarter, Bueckers and Sparks All-Star Nneka Ogwumike collided as Ogwumike stopped her dribble and flung a pass to the wing.
Ogwumike’s momentum carried her straight into Bueckers, who had rotated over and was trying to draw a charge.

MORE: Paige Bueckers is on a ridiculous run over last month
As she fell, Bueckers hit the back of her head against the hardwood. She left the game following the collision and did not return.
Even still, the Wings held on for the win. Bueckers’ 25 points led all scorers, while Arike Ogunbowale added 20 for the second time during Dallas‘ winning streak.
No update on Paige Bueckers from Jose Fernandez postgame, but it seems she might be in good spirits.
“She’s upset at Azzi because she said Azzi tripped her [Nneka] and took away P’s charge,” Fernandez says 😂

After the game, Wings head coach Jose Fernandez jokingly said that Bueckers was upset with Azzi Fudd for getting tangled up with Ogwumike and thus taking away a possible offensive foul.
Bueckers’ status is uncertain as the Wings complete a back-to-back against the sliding New York Liberty on Monday. But Dallas — now 17-8 on the season — will enter that game full of confidence as they sit just two-and-a-half games behind the WNBA-best Minnesota Lynx in the standings.
