The City of Oshawa says signs are now up at the beaches along Lakeview Park and Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park, warning people not to feed the geese.
Ward 5 and Regional Councillor Brian Nicholson says he sent a letter to city staff after receiving an increase in calls and messages from people worried about the growing population and aggressiveness of Canadian Geese at both waterfront parks.
He says it’s become a problem as more people are feeding the birds.
In a statement to Durham Radio News, the city confirmed it will be putting up shadow predator silhouettes to discourage large numbers of geese from congregating.
Bylaw officers will be issuing fines to those who don’t comply.
