The Great Winnipeg Sundae Search served up by Manitoba Museum continues as the CHVN family is on the hunt for the best ice cream sundae in Winnipeg.

The latest stop had CHVN’s Angela Peacock, Lianna Peters, and Isaac Josue head to Red Top Drive Inn

A classic sundae

While Winnipeggers enjoy heading to Red Top for the Classic breakfast, pressure-fried chicken, and of course, their famous burgers and fries, the menu also features a summer staple – a chocolate sundae.

The sundae features a generous amount of vanilla ice cream, with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.

Keeping the classics

Owner Stavros Athanasiadis took over the business in 2019 and knows the importance of keeping the menu classics the same.

“We don’t have to fix anything; it’s always good, so we’ll keep it the same,” he says. “Yes, you want to grow the business. You want to make more sales. But at the end of the day, you’ve got to stay true to what Red Top has been all these years.”

Looking ahead to the future, while the team wants to continue imporoving in certain areas, they also want to keep Red Top what it is, a place for generations to gather together enjoying comfort food and tasty ice cream.
