Kingston Health Science Centres (KHSC) has shared an update to the operating hours of the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) located at the Hotel Dieu Hospital site.

The local health-care agency provided the update on social media on the afternoon of Monday, Jul. 20, 2026, and said that providing timely access to care for the community remains a top priority for KHSC.

Starting Wednesday, Jul. 22, 2026, the UCC will be open as follows:

Monday to Friday: 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“These updated hours are designed to provide patients with more consistent and predictable access to the UCC. In the past, the UCC often needed to stop registering new patients earlier than its posted closing time due to resource availability and patient volumes. This new schedule is expected to reduce the need for frequent early closures of patient registration,” the local health-care organization stated.

“As a result, patients can have greater confidence that the UCC will remain open and accepting patients throughout its posted hours. In exceptional circumstances, registration may close early if the clinical team determines they cannot safely accept additional patients.”

According to KHSC, it is also adjusting how physicians are scheduled between the UCC and the Emergency Department (ED) at Kingston General Hospital (KGH). On weekends, one physician per day will reportedly be reassigned from the UCC to the ED to help improve wait times in the Emergency Department.

KHSC reminded the public that the UCC is intended for health concerns that require assessment within 24 hours but are not life-threatening. If your concern is not urgent, the organization asked everyone to consider alternative care options as detailed on its Right Place, Right Care webpage.
