WNBA All-Star Game: The stars and storylines to watch out for
Led by WNBA and Olympic legends Cooper and Weatherspoon, the game in Chicago will be packed with stars.
But beyond the headlines surrounding Clark going up against Bueckers, there is plenty more to look out for.
The game represents a Chicago homecoming for Angel Reese, who began her WNBA career with the Chicago Sky before moving to the Atlanta Dream in April. She’s since become one of the league’s – and Team USA’s – brightest prospects.
This will be the first All-Star Game for the 24-year-old, who currently leads the league with 11.8 rebounds per game and 14 double-doubles.
She’s not the only one to be a first-time All-Star. Marina Mabrey’s selection makes her the first to achieve the accolade with the Toronto Tempo.
The 29-year-old recently tied the WNBA single-game scoring record.
On the other end of the spectrum, the WNBA’s fourth-leading all-time scorer and rebounder, Nneka Ogwumike, has been selected for her 11th All-Star Game.
It ties her with Diana Taurasi for the second-most All-Star selections in league history, a list led by Sue Bird with 13.
