Winnipeg police have issued a public advisory after a woman was randomly sexually assaulted late Sunday night.
Police say a woman who had been walking southbound on Toronto Street crossed Portage Avenue and was grabbed by an unknown man. He pulled her into an alcove near Picardy Place and Canora Street, police said in a news release Wednesday.

The man threatened to harm the woman if she screamed and then choked, sexually assaulted and robbed her, police said.
Police described the man as in his 30s, about six feet tall, with a heavy build and short spiky dark hair. He was wearing black shorts and black shoes, with no shirt, the release said.
The Winnipeg Police Service asked anyone with information about the incident or video from the area to call investigators at 204-986-6245.
