The Dressing Room, the six-time Leo nominated Vancouver-based series, is set to hit international waters.
The mockumentary comedy series follows the lives of cast and crew members of a fictional musical called Balloon Boy.
Vancouverites Paul Almeida and Makayla Moore are co-creators of the series, and draw on their experiences as Canadian theatre artists with the show, which is entering it second season.
“With Season 2, we wanted to build on everything audiences loved about the first season while making the show feel more accessible to an even wider audience,” says Almeida.
The series stars Irene Karas Loeper (Spotlight on Christmas), Jason Sakaki (The Vince Staples Show), Jeffrey Michael Follis (Starwalker), and Alex Gullason (Schmigadoon!).
“Although The Dressing Room is set in the theatre, it’s really about people, and we wanted to place our characters in wilder and wackier situations to see how they’d scramble their way out. Being backstage gives us permission to turn the personalities, relationships, and comedy up to eleven,” continues Almeida.
Season 2 will feature guest stars such as Eric McCormack, Andrea Bang, Josh Ramsay, and Laura Bell Bundy.
“This season is where we found our stride,” adds Moore. Shooting the entire season over 10 consecutive days allowed our cast and crew to fully immerse themselves in the world we created, and you can feel that chemistry on screen. We were also thrilled to welcome so many incredible new collaborators this season, both in front of and behind the camera.”
The first two episodes of The Dressing Room will be available starting August 4, with episodes releasing weekly on OUTtv and Outflix.
