The Montreal Alouettes have signed American linebacker Quinn Urwiler.
The native of Mooseheart, Ill., played four seasons at Northern Illinois University, primarily seeing action on special teams until his senior year. He amassed 141 total tackles that season to finish third in the FBS with 11.8 tackles per game, while adding 7.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, an interception, a forced fumble, and a pass breakup. That earned the former walk-on a second-team All-MAC selection.
During his time with the Huskies, Urwiler appeared in 42 games and made 188 total tackles, while adding nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble, and two pass breakups. He transferred after two years at the University of North Dakota, where he recorded 13 tackles, a sack, and a pass breakup in 14 appearances.
