Cadence Design Systems has expanded its electronic system design portfolio through the acquisition of long-time channel partners EMA Design Automation and FlowCAD, a move aimed at strengthening its printed circuit board (pcb) design capabilities and enhancing access to electronic component data for engineers worldwide.
The acquisition brings the EMA Design Automation and FlowCAD teams into Cadence’s Electronic System Design and Analysis Group, combining pcb design technology with electronic component intelligence to deliver a more integrated design environment. EMA Design Automation and FlowCAD have distributed and supported Cadence software for more than two decades, building specialized expertise in pcb design workflows, engineering services, and customer support across North America and Europe.
According to Cadence, the acquisition will enable the company to expand its product offerings while accelerating the development of new capabilities for pcb designers. The combined organization is expected to provide customers with improved design tools, enhanced technical support, and broader access to electronic component data throughout the product development process.
Over the past 20 years, both companies have developed proprietary software tools and engineering expertise that complement Cadence’s design platform. Their experience in helping customers optimize pcb design workflows and improve engineering productivity is expected to strengthen Cadence’s electronic system design ecosystem. The acquisition underscores Cadence’s continued investment in expanding its pcb design portfolio as increasing system complexity drives demand for more integrated electronic design automation (EDA) solutions.
