Board games. Scary movie marathons. True crime podcasts. They’re all staples of a great night in. But this summer, you can trade the couch for the theatre with a live whodunit that brings them all together.
From July 28 to Aug. 2, Broadway Across Canada brings Clue: Live on Stage to Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Based on the 1985 feature film and inspired by the classic Hasbro board game first released in 1949, this stage adaptation the mystery into a fast-paced comedy packed with plenty of twists, turns and suspense.
When a dinner party at Boddy Manor takes a deadly turn, six mysterious characters become suspects: Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, Professor Plum and Mr. Green.
With one of them hiding a deadly secret, audiences are invited to follow the clues and uncover the killer, weapon and location before another victim falls. Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? The race is on to solve the mystery before the final reveal.
The 80-minute production brings the iconic board game to life with rotating sets inspired by its familiar rooms, alongside blackmail, red herrings, mistaken identities, slapstick humour and witty dialogue.
Whether you grew up accusing your siblings of murder over family game night or simply love a clever comedy, Clue: Live on Stage offers the perfect mix of nostalgia, mystery and laugh-out-loud entertainment.
