Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a crash that took place in Etobicoke early Saturday morning, said Toronto police.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle crash shortly after midnight near Carlingview Drive and Disco Road, Toronto police said on social media platform X.
Three people in one of the vehicles were arrested, they said. Police did not provide any other details on why they were arrested.
Toronto paramedics said it transported five people with injuries: three of them were taken to a trauma centre in serious, non-life threatening condition and two people were taken to local hospital for minor injuries.
Const. Shannon Eames with Toronto police said the Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and is investigating the case. She said no police vehicles were involved in the crash and that no officers were injured in the incident.
