A 26-year-old woman was left fighting for her life Saturday afternoon in downtown Montreal after being attacked with what the police said may have been a sharp object.
Police were called at about 4:45 p.m. to De Bleury St., near De la Concorde St., following a report a woman had been injured, according to Johany Charland, a Montreal police spokesperson.
The officers found the woman suffering from an injury to her upper body. She was then taken to hospital, where her condition was considered life-threatening.
According to preliminary information, a suspect attacked the woman for reasons that remained unclear, the police said. The suspect fled before officers arrived.
No arrests had been made, and the investigation was continuing, Charland said.
The police established a perimeter to protect evidence at the scene.
