When a small group of tennis players gathered at the old Racquet Club of Memphis in 1998, they had a simple idea: combine their love of the game with a desire to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis.
Twenty-eight years later, that idea has grown into one of the Mid-South’s longest-running amateur tennis traditions.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis Tennis Invitational, set for Aug. 7-8, has raised more than $2.7 million since its inception, helping provide after-school programs, workforce training and mentorship for more than 7,000 children each year across Memphis.
