Provincial police are investigating after a person was found dead at a residence in Shawinigan Que., Sunday morning. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) told CBC the death appears to be a homicide.
Shawinigan is located roughly 160 kilometres northeast of Montreal, in central Quebec’s Mauricie region. The incident occurred in a residential area in the Saint-Georges sector.
Emergency services were called around 9 a.m. after reports of an unresponsive person. According to police, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police would not share details of the victim’s identity, saying it could comprise the investigation.
SQ officers have established a perimeter in the area. The provincial police’s crimes against the person unit is investigating.
