A 53-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed during a conflict in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood Sunday night.

The incident follows three other armed assault in less than 24 hours in downtown Montreal over the weekend.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 10:40 p.m. reporting a man was stabbed near the intersection of Van Horne and Victoria avenues.

When the police officers arrived, they found an 53-year-old man with injuries to his upper body and conscious.

He was taken to hospital and his life is not considered to be in danger.

“According to the initial information, it was possibly a conflict that would have escalated between the victim and a suspect,” SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.

The suspect reportedly fled the scene. No arrests have been made.

A security perimeter was established for investigators to analyze the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
