Doctor Who as a TV series may be currently out to tender, but that won’t stop the Tardis going on new adventures – with Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor getting two new tales.

Doctor Who – The Fifth Doctor Adventures: Shock and Awe will see Davison, who played the iconic BBC space-and-time-travelling Doctor from 1981 to 1984, tackle two new stories as his regeneration of The Doctor.

The audio drama by Big Finish will be composed of two brand new stories written by Roland Moore and Alan Ronald, and will be released as a box set in September 2026.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, every Doctor Who fan knows an adventure isn’t complete without a companion by his side – and Sarah Sutton, who played Nyssa in the main TV show, will be back with her Doctor as well.

Both stories will be set in between the 19th and 20th seasons of the original show.

The first four-part tale, Lair of the Voltaxa, finds The Doctor and Nyssa heading to the wonderful world of Devon in 1984, intending to enjoy a well-earned break from fighting bad guys across the universe.

But their holiday isn’t quite as restful as they hoped as they discover the Miri Cube – smart technology that is about to be released nationwide – decades before it should actually exist.

What’s more, there’s reports that a car has come to life and attacked someone.

The second story, March of the Colossus, will see the duo head off to a distant world where they meet the Dianasa, a primitive tribe waiting for myth known as the ‘Colossus’ to fall from the sky.
