A routine traffic stop north of Winnipeg has led to a major drug seizure.
RCMP say officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 6 near Grosse Isle, around 7:30 a.m. on July 22.
During a conversation with the driver and passenger, the officer became suspicious of the pair and believed that they may have been carrying proceeds of crime.
Police say they seized more than $10,000 in cash and later learned the passenger was wanted on an outstanding drug trafficking warrant.
A search of a Winnipeg home uncovered about one kilogram of methamphetamine, roughly 799 suspected fentanyl pills and other items.
A 23-year-old Winnipeg man now faces multiple drug and property-related charges, while a 24-year-old Winnipeg woman has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
