Red Deer hosting 113th Alberta Open

Alberta’s longest-running tennis tournament is coming to Red Deer this week.

The 113th Alberta Open begins Thursday, July 30 and runs through Monday, Aug. 3 at the Red Deer Tennis Club, located next to the Don Moore Recreation Centre.

The Alberta Open features “Open” level play, as well as recreational and intermediate levels. The tournament has run since 1906, only interrupted during the First World War, the Second World War, the COVID-19 Pandemic and the 2013 Alberta floods.

Red Deer also hosted the U12/U16 5-Star Junior Provincial Championships July 20-22 and U14/U18 5-Star Junior Provincial Championships July 23-25. Here are the winners from those events:
