The National Bank Open, one of the oldest active tennis competitions in the world behind Wimbledon, begins in Toronto at Sobeys Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 1, with the biggest stars in women’s tennis already confirmed.

“As one of the premier events on the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) Tour, the National Bank Open presented by Rogers continues to attract the world’s best players and this year’s field is no exception, highlighted by the presence of 12 Grand Slam champions,” said Karl Hale, tournament director for National Bank Open, Toronto.

Which tennis stars are competing in the National Bank Open 2026?

This year’s women’s draw includes the top five ranked players in the world, led by Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, who is the tournament’s top seed. 

Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, Jessica Pegula of the U.S., Coco Gauff of the U.S., and Mirra Andreeva from Russia, each represent the top five seeds. 

Linda Noskova of Czechia, Iga Swiatek of Poland, Amanda Anisimova of the U.S., Elina Svitolina of Ukraine and Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine round out this year’s top 10.

Seven-time Grand Slam singles champion and four-time Olympic gold medallist Venus Williams will play on a wild card game into the main draw.

Of the top 75 players, 72 will be competing, as the National Bank Open continues to establish itself as one of the premier events on the WTA tour.

Which Canadian players are competing in the National Bank Open 2026?

While the reigning 2025 National Bank Open champion Victoria Mboko will miss this year’s tournament, due to an injury, a number of Canadian women are set to hit the court in Toronto. 

Leylah Fernandez is the lone seeded Canadian woman in the tournament and is number 34 in the world rankings. 

Fernandez’s best finish at the National Bank Open came in 2023, when she made it as far as the third round when the tournament was hosted in Montreal. 

Bianca Andreescu, who ranked as high as number four in her career, will return to the National Bank Open this year, along with 21-year-old Kayla Cross, 27-year-old Katherine Sebov, 21-year-old Cadence Brace and 35-year-old Rebecca Marino. 

How much prize money does the National Bank Open 2026 winner receive?

The champion of women’s singles currently takes home $752,275, while the winner of men’s singles takes home $1.1 million. 

According to TSN, starting in 2027, the National Bank Open will award an equal amount of prize money to men and women as the tournament looks to close the gender pay gap. 

How to get tickets to the National Bank Open 2026 in Toronto

Single-session tickets and multisession packages to each round of the National Bank Open are now live online, along with free grounds passes for this Saturday, Aug. 1. 

Free grounds passes include access to practice courts, secondary match courts, on-site activities and entertainment. And the first 750 attendees will receive a complimentary swag bag. 

Single tickets to early rounds start at $15 each, while tickets to the final on Aug. 13 start at $145.
