Montreal was under a severe thunderstorm watch Tuesday as a storm moved toward the city. Environment and Climate Change Canada upgraded the watch to a warning around 6:30 p.m., before cancelling the warning about 40 minutes later.
A rainfall warning remained in effect for areas of the Laurentians, Lanaudière and Mauricie regions north of St-Jérôme and the St. Lawrence river, with 50 to 80 millimetres of rain expected.
Residents are advised to take immediate shelter if a thunderstorm approaches. If outdoors, they should protect themselves from flying debris and hail, and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
Tuesday’s high reached 23 C, with a humidex of 30. More showers are expected Wednesday and Thursday before sunnier conditions return Friday.
