Club Richelieu Féminin de Sudbury held its 27th Annual Francophone Women’s Golf Tournament last month, with a dual purpose of having fun and raising funds for charity.
“Held at the Forest Ridge Golf and Country Club on Saturday, June 13, the tournament brought together approximately 90 women from across the region for a day of golf, friendship, and community support,” said a press release from organizers.
“The generosity of local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and participants helps ensure the tournament’s continued success and supports the club’s charitable work throughout the community year after year.”
All funds raised through the tournament are distributed in the following year.
As a result of 2025 fundraising, local alternative school École Cap sur l’Avenir received a cheque for $2,000 during the golf tournament.
Over the past year, the club has also donated to the Elgin Street Mission to purchase a commercial toaster ($1,000) and to Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario (TNO) in support of the programming associated with the theatrical production Le Téton tardif ($3,000).
“Preparations are already underway for the 28th Annual Women’s Golf Tournament, scheduled for June 2027,” said the press release. “The CRFS looks forward to welcoming returning and new golfers for another memorable day of golf, friendship and community spirit.”
