Prime Video is “taking over Wednesday night NHL broadcasts in Canada” from Rogers Communications after the two companies signed a 12-year deal for national rights that will “see the Amazon-owned streaming service broadcast games in both English and French for the first time.” The agreement, which starts this season, includes “at least 26 national regular-season games as well as two first-round and one second-round Stanley Cup playoff series each spring.” Prime had Monday night broadcasts for the last two seasons, but those will be returning to Sportsnet. The new deal makes Prime the first national streaming-only service in Canada to carry NHL games in French. The company did not provide details about its broadcast plans for those games. Rogers and the NHL signed a new 12-year deal in April 2025 that was valued at $11B. Last month, Rogers and CBC announced it would no longer distribute its Saturday night games on CBC, with those games available on Sportsnet (GLOBE & MAIL, 7/27).
