A Brampton man who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant in connection with a shooting that left two people seriously injured has been arrested.
Peel Regional Police announced today that Kaleb Kimotho, 19, of Brampton, has been taken into custody.
“Kaleb Kimotho, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, has been arrested and is now in custody,” police said in a brief update. “Thank you to our policing partners for their assistance.”
Police did not release details about where or when Kimotho was arrested or identify the policing agency that assisted in taking him into custody.
The arrest stems from a shooting that occurred on April 26 in the area of Central Park Drive in Brampton.
According to investigators, two people were sitting inside a vehicle when two suspects entered the back seat. Police allege one of the suspects opened fire, striking both victims.
The victims suffered serious injuries.
Kimotho had been wanted on a Canada-wide warrant on charges of attempted murder using a firearm, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing it is unauthorized, and possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
When police announced the warrant on Monday, they warned that Kimotho should be considered armed and dangerous and advised members of the public not to approach him if seen.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police have not announced whether any additional arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
