Iain Miller had a clear win in week 16 of Caithness Cycling Club’s 10-mile time trial season, with Alistair Miller and Roger Broughton taking second and third places.
On a deceptively hard evening, most riders were well down on their season’s best but Phil Cartwright did well to be within three seconds of his fastest and so took maximum points in the handicap league.
This is still headed by Iain Miller and, with just two events to go and a maximum of six points per event, only Roger Broughton could overtake him.

Last Sunday, club members Iain Miller, Gary Angus and Will Calder joined German cycling legend Jens Voight on the final stretch of his 906-mile, nine-day ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats, riding with him from Thurso.
Voight (53), winner of two stages in the Tour de France, opted for the tourist route, finishing along the north coast from Bettyhill. He encouraged local cyclists to join him and over the nine days almost 1000 did so.
Last Thursday saw seven riders turn up for Wick Wheelers’ 10-mile time trial. They faced a cool evening and a stiff north-westerly headwind on the outward leg.
Consequently, times were slower than normal by around 10 per cent.
Danny Miller was fastest on the night with Iain Miller getting the better of Stuart Swanson for second.
Rhys Evans finished fourth just ahead of James Munro with George Ewing (despite prior protestation), finishing sixth.
Lisa Coghill was the only lady on the night.
