Marc-Antoine Camirand left Edmonton International Raceway with even more control of the NASCAR Canada championship after delivering one of his strongest weekends of the season.
The driver of the No. 96 GM Paillé/Chevrolet Canada Camaro combined a third-place finish in the Dorman Products 150 with a victory in the Carlyle Tools 150, expanding his lead in the drivers’ standings while helping Paillé Course//Racing strengthen its position atop the owners’ championship.
The doubleheader marked another showcase of Camirand’s consistency and racecraft on the Alberta oval, where he has enjoyed success throughout his NASCAR Canada career. Despite qualifying seventh for the opening race, Camirand quickly worked his way through the field and capitalized on an inside starting lane to secure a podium finish in a caution-free event where only three drivers remained on the lead lap.
The momentum carried into the evening’s second race. Starting fifth, Camirand once again charged toward the front and engaged in a spirited battle with Donald Theetge for the race lead. With severe weather approaching the speedway, teams understood track position would be critical if the race was shortened.
That strategy proved decisive.
After reclaiming the lead, Camirand was out front when a weather-related red flag halted the race on Lap 86. Conditions ultimately prevented officials from resuming the event, handing Camirand his series-leading fifth victory of the 2026 season.
“With the storm cells approaching, we had to get to the front quickly because we suspected the race could be shortened,” Camirand said. “A win is a win, and we’ll take it.”
