A 42-year-old has died of his injuries, becoming Montreal’s 13th homicide victim of 2026.
Montreal police were informed by 911 calls around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday that there was an injured man in a residential building on Monk Blvd. near Pierre-Héroux St. in Ville-Émard.
The suspect or suspects had fled by the time law enforcement arrived, police spokesperson Johany Charland said. They found the man with critical injuries and had him transported to a hospital, where he later died.

The motive for the assault is unknown, Charland said.
Police have set up a crime-scene perimeter and plan to interview witnesses and seek surveillance cameras that might offer clues.
