As the off-court business dealings of NBA stars continue to draw public scrutiny, a surprising new connection has tied in Kawhi Leonard.

Kawhi Leonard’s off-court world is getting pretty messy. Between secretive endorsement deals and other findings, the league’s most notoriously private star keeps finding himself right under the spotlight.

The NBA remains locked in an investigation to determine whether the Clippers secretly played with the salary cap to funnel millions to him. With Adam Silver refusing to rush a decision without ironclad proof, everything is stuck on pause, along with his proposed return to Toronto.

But it doesn’t stop there, as more and more details continue to come out involving Kawhi, with the latest involving a controversial soccer team.

There are plenty of talented free agents available, but who would be your dream addition and why? 🤔

It’s now come to light via WPRI 12 that Kawhi Leonard is one of the long-hidden investors behind a controversial, taxpayer-funded Rhode Island soccer project.

“We can now reveal that Kawhi Leonard is a secret investor in Rhode Island FC and the new soccer stadium in Pawtucket.

“For years the projects investors have remained under wraps, but we discovered this. In 2024, Leonard opened up two limited liability corporations with the initials RIFC.

“Later, the owner and stadium developer of RIFC, Brett Johnson, confirmed that Leonard, the superstar’s uncle and then-agent were all investors. Johnson told us that Leonard was at least partially interested in building affordable housing in Rhode Island, but so far the stadium project has not produced any housing units.”
