The WNBA has reportedly decided whether to hand down punishment to Angel Reese and Paige Bueckers after a video of the two making a wager on an upcoming Atlanta Dream-Dallas Wings game during All-Star Weekend went viral.
In the video, Reese jokingly held up $400 to bet that Atlanta would beat the Wings when the two teams faced off in Dallas on Wednesday night.
The video was reposted by the WNBA before being deleted because of immediate backlash. Wagering on games is strictly prohibited by the league, which opened Reese and Bueckers up to potential punishment.

Despite violating the CBA, Annie Costabile of The Athletic reports there will “be no punishment for players.”

The CBA states, “Any player found by the Commissioner after a hearing to have been guilty of wagering (directly or indirectly), or of offering or attempting to wager, money or anything of value on the outcome, score, or any other aspect of any WNBA Competition shall, in the sole discretion of the Commissioner, be subject to a fine, suspension, and/or dismissal and disqualification from any further association with the WNBA.”

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert apparently decided that the video did not go far enough to result in any punishment.
In a statement from the WNBA, the league claimed the video was “lighthearted,” but acknowledged it “missed the mark.”
