Farm shows often come with a few surprises.

Such was the case when I strolled up to the John Deere booth at Ag in Motion 2026 to speak with a Deere rep about what I thought to be its latest and largest air cart at the show, the C1100T.

I soon learned that Deere had eclipsed that air cart earlier that morning with a new green giant at the show: the C1450T.

A larger air cart means less stops for tendering and can keep farmers more productive during seeding.

Deere’s largest and latest trailing air cart is equipped with five tanks with a total capacity of 1,460 bu and more than doubles the size of the flex tank.

“We have an additional tank off the back that gives us that extra capacity that allows us to spend less time tendering and more time seeding,” said Benjamin Zelle, John Deere product manager for air seeding equipment.

The five tank configuration of 105, 325, 155, 635 and 240 bu is designed to maximize an operator’s time spent seeding and fertilizing in the field.

“I can really mix and match my configurations to maximize how long I can keep seeding with my combination of seed and fertilizer that I’m going to put into each tank,” said Zelle.

The new C1450T also has a stainless steel hopper and a larger conveyor tube diameter, increasing it to 16 inches, four inches wider than its nearest sibling.

Zelle said in Deere’s testing using untreated seed, this kept fill times to under 30 minutes.

A wireless remote control unit also allows operators to move the conveyance arm with very little effort.

To help carry that extra girth and payload capacity, Deere outfitted the C1450T air cart with a high flotation package.

A total of eight Goodyear LSW1100 tires let the big cart spread out its weight over a larger footprint, a “John Deere exclusive,” said Zelle.

“These 1100 tires allow us to have that same footprint in terms of compaction on the ground, similar to what we have in a C850 cart,” he added.

Carryover features such as Deere’s EZCal system and the EZLift system make it onto the new C1450T as well, with the latter getting a boost in lift capacity to nearly 1,100 kg.

This eliminates the need for additional equipment such as a loader or forklift to get bulk bags to the top of the cart during loading.

A side storage platform on the new air cart can also carry up to 900 kg of bulk bags.

To make things easier from getting to the other side of the air cart, Deere fitted the C1450T with a walkover platform over the hitch.

When you have a cart this size, this makes it easier to get to the other side if you need to check something or make adjustments, said Zelle.
