If you rely on Brampton Transit to move around the city, you’ll want to check your route before heading out after the Civic Holiday long weekend.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 4, Brampton Transit is rolling out a series of route and schedule changes affecting several of its busiest bus lines, along with the launch of a new route designed to serve an employment area in the city’s east end.

The changes are intended to improve service reliability, respond to ridership demand and make operational adjustments across the transit network.

Among the biggest changes is the introduction of Route 302 Deerhurst, which replaces the former 29A Williams branch south of Queen Street.

The new route will travel along Deerhurst Drive, Paget Road and Kenview Boulevard, providing service to an employment district that Brampton Transit says is intended to better match commuter travel patterns during weekday peak periods.

Several existing routes are also being modified.

The 5A Bovaird branch will no longer travel along Airport Road and instead will be rerouted via Castlemore Road to Gore Meadows Community Centre.

Meanwhile, Route 35 Clarkway will be shortened and will now terminate at Airport Road.

In addition to route adjustments, Brampton Transit has revised weekday schedules on several routes to improve service reliability.

The affected routes include:

511 Züm Steeles
3/3A McLaughlin
5/5A Bovaird
15/15A Bramalea
26 Mount Pleasant
27 Robert Parkinson
29/29A Williams
35 Clarkway

A handful of individual trips have also changed.

The last weekday westbound 511 Züm Steeles bus departing Humber College will now leave at 11:50 p.m.

The first weekday southbound 3/3A McLaughlin trip departing Sandalwood Loop will leave at 4:03 a.m.

The last weekday northbound 26 Mount Pleasant trip departing Mount Pleasant GO Station will now leave at 12:35 a.m.

Weekend riders should also note that Saturday and Sunday schedules have been adjusted on Route 35 Clarkway to improve reliability.

With the changes taking effect immediately after the long weekend, Brampton Transit is encouraging customers to review their routes and schedules before travelling on Tuesday to avoid unexpected delays or missed connections.

Passengers can use Brampton Transit’s online trip planner and updated schedules to confirm whether their regular route or departure time has changed before their next trip.
