The start of the Civic Holiday long weekend could bring showers to the Greater Toronto Area and a risk of thunderstorms to parts of southern Ontario.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says Saturday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun and cloudy conditions in the morning and a 30 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Oshawa, Pickering and the Niagara Falls area.
The daytime high will be around 28 C in Mississauga but could feel more like 32 C due to the humidity. The seasonal normal is between 15 C and 27 C.
The UV index will be 9 or “very high,” the weather agency says.
Saturday night will be cloudy with another 30 per cent chance of showers in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and across the GTA. There’s a risk of thunderstorms overnight in some areas, including Hamilton, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Newmarket, Kitchener and Orillia.
A 20 km/h north wind is expected in the evening, dying down in the later hours. The overnight low will be around 18 C to 20 C in the GTA, the weather agency says.
