A Quebec man has been arrested more than a year after a Guelph resident reported someone fraudulently using his Aeroplan account to book several flights.
In January, 2025, a Guelph man fell victim to a scam and his cellphone became compromised. He took steps afterwards to change his passwords and increase his security, but forgot to change the email associated to his Aeroplan account.
The account was later used to book several flights within Canada. The victim lost the equivalent of nearly $2,100 in points.
Last Friday, police in Quebec arrested a 23-year-old Montreal man for fraud under $5,000.
