Northeast Edmonton transit riders will have to hop on and off a shuttle bus or find other means of transportation next week as a good chunk of the Capital Line LRT service will be shut down for construction.
Starting at 8 p.m. on Aug. 7 until 8 a.m. on Aug. 9, the LRT service from Churchill and Clareview stations will be unavailable to accommodate the safe installation of overhead electrical lines north of 115 Avenue, said the City of Edmonton in a Friday news release.
LRT replacement buses will be available and running between Churchill and Clareview for the entire duration of the construction upgrade.
On Aug. 7, shuttle buses will run every seven to eight minutes from 8 p.m. to the end of service.
On Aug. 8 the buses will run every seven to eight minutes from the start of service until 7 p.m. and then every 10 minutes until the end of service.
On Aug. 9, the buses will run every seven to eight minutes until 10 a.m.
Locations of all LRT replacement bus stops are listed on the City of Edmonton website.
The city said the Valley Line southeast trains won’t be affected by the work and, during the closure, the Metro line trains will be extended to Century Park Station, instead of turning around at the Health Sciences/Jubilee Station stop.
