Although summer is well underway, festival season is far from over. And this three-day, grassroots celebration running outdoors on the Toronto Islands is just the place to keep the good times rolling.

From Aug. 21 to 23, Toronto Folk Festival will take place on Ward’s Island at the WIA Pavilion, located at 20 Withrow St. Plus, this year’s artist-led festival will also include a second stage and craft village at Toronto Island Outpost, found at 101 Cibola Ave.

The upcoming celebration follows the inaugural Toronto Folk Festival that took place in August 2025. It was born out of founder Philip Vonesh’s love of music and festivals, which began while growing up volunteering at the Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia.

The 2026 performance lineup will feature nearly 30 artists including Abigail Lapell, Bobby Dove, Kobo Town, The Young Novelists, Jadea Kelly, Métis Jiggers and Fiddlers, Nii Osabu, Mexican Legacy Dancers and more.

Plus, there will also be artisan vendors and workshops throughout the festival.

To catch every moment of the festival, a weekend pass can be purchased online for $99. Or take advantage of the pay-what-you-can offering during the festival’s “Community Night” on Aug. 21.

A ticket to Saturday and Sunday’s festivities can also be purchased online for $60.

Getting to Toronto Folk Festival

With the festival situated on the Toronto Islands, a boat ride will be necessary to reach the celebration.

However, Pirate Water Taxi is offering a special ticket price for those attending. Festival goers with a ticket will pay $10 each way instead of the regular fare price of $13.

Hosted by The Society of Philippine Artists, Recreation, and Community (SPARC), the celebration will take place on Aug. 15 and 16 at the corner of Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue. It will spotlight more than 150 vendors, cultural performances, live music across three stages and Filipino celebrities.

Mabuhay Philippines Festival will also happen on Aug. 22 and 23 as a celebration of Filipino culture and heritage.

Running at Nathan Phillips Square, located at 100 Queen St. W., guests can look forward to free live music and dance performances, along with vendors that showcase Filipino fashion, art and food.
