Wanted sex offender Mario Charette, 65, was arrested on Friday night in Saint-Jérôme, Que., about 45 kilometres northwest of Montreal.
Charette was apprehended as part of an investigation led by the Sex Offender Monitoring Team of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
The police put out a call to the public on Wednesday to help locate Charette, who allegedly violated his supervision conditions with Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
“The SPVM spared no effort in finding him and thanks the citizens whose information contributed to his location,” the police wrote in a press release.
This is not he first time Charette has been accused of dodging supervision orders. In 2023, he was caught by provincial police in Mont-Laurier, Que., 235 kilometres northwest of Montreal.
Police say Charette is now being detained by CSC.
