A man is wanted after a stabbing in Mississauga early Saturday morning left one person with serious injuries.

Peel Regional Police said officers responded to the area of Dixie Road and Eglinton Avenue East shortly before 1:40 a.m.

A victim was located and transported to a trauma centre for treatment. An update on their condition has not been released.

Police have not provided additional information about the victim, including their age, whether they are male or female or their place of residence.

It is also unclear whether the stabbing was targeted or if the suspect and victim were known to each other.

The suspect is described as a Black man with a height of 5-foot-11. He has cornrows and speaks with a Caribbean accent. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt with red stripes and black shoes.

Investigators say the suspect fled the area in a dark-coloured minivan.
