WTA Memphis Final: Darja Vidmanova vs Kristina Liutova
Vidmanova’s success at the ITF level has finally translated to the main tour. Her wins this week came against Marina Bassols Ribera (3 sets), Sloane Stephens, Katie Volynets (3 sets), and Renata Zarazua. This has been her best achievement career wise this week in Memphis, having previously won just a single tour level match in 2025. While being 22-9 at ITF level in 2026 alone. In her own right, that’s a massive story, but it pales in comparison to the run of 16 year old Kristina Liutova.
Liutova came through qualifying, then stunned top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Maya Joint, both in three sets. Her form improved further in the last two matches of the week, wins over Caty Mcnally and Elvina Kalieva. Similarly, the signs of form were visible below tour level, Liutova is 20-3 on the ITF and already has three titles.
This is an unpredictable final, though Vidmanova is seven years older than her opponent. Both players likely have some nerves heading into the biggest match of their careers. Liutova’s dominant form in her last two matches gives her a slight advantage but this is a coin flip final.
