Last week, Sara Errani was in the coaching box of Jasmine Paolini, as the Italian advanced to the Cincinnati Open final. This week, the doubles specialist is into the semifinal of the U.S. Open mixed doubles championship.
Errani, alongside partner Andrea Vavassori, is the reigning mixed doubles champion in New York.
They defeated Taylor Townsend and Donald Young last year, as Errani became the first Italian woman since 1986 to win the mixed doubles event in Flushing Meadows.
Errani, a former doubles world No. 1, has the career grand slam. She won the women’s doubles at the U.S. Open in 2012, alongside compatriot Roberta Vinci.
Errani has 35 doubles titles and two mixed doubles slams. Can she add a third this week at the U.S. Open?
