Small Dog Candle Co. & Market will be closing its doors but not its candle sales.

Co-owner Jamie Wotherspoon has intentions to semi-retire.

“This is simply a directional pivot for our business, not the complete end,” said the owners in an announcement on social media. “As a family, we are looking for work/life balance after six years of nonstop candle making and as a result have decided to close our storefront.”

Wotherspoon, who co-owns the business at 619 LaSalle St., Ottawa, with her daughter, Avery Wheeler, plans to shift the business to focus on private label, wholesale, pop-up markets, and shower and wedding favors.

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us in this journey,” they said.

Geometry, a line of towels, and Brumate, a line of drinkware, will be carried at their sister store, Fantzy’s, a women’s clothing store that opened next door earlier this year.

Rodeo Cowboy, Fantzy’s signature scent, and perhaps a seasonal scent or two will be available at Fantzy’s.

Gift cards will be honored until the anticipated mid-September closing. All valid candle lab gift certificates with a non-expired date may be converted to store credit with the certificate present at checkout.
