The 2026 Canadian masters road championships came to a close in Calgary after three days of racing. Several riders were crowned national champions in the time trial, road race and criterium. Held alongside the Tour de Bowness and hosted in partnership with Bow Cycle, the championships attracted riders from across the country.
The time trials
Friday’s individual time trial opened the weekend. Warren Muir set the fastest time of the day to win the masters men’s 35–39 (A) title.
Nigel Wray topped the 40–44 (A) category. Mark Sherboneau, Mark Daws, Bruce Bird, Gary Alexander, Brian Countryman, Bob Simpson and Stew Hutchings also claimed national titles across the remaining men’s age groups.

In the women’s races, Brittany Mercier won the masters 35–39 (A) title ahead of Stephanie Flynn in 40–44 (A). Deirdre Maloney, Debra Sluz, Paolina Allan, Dawn Heinemeyer, Margie Ritchie and Gaylene Halter rounded out the list of time trial champions.
Road races
Saturday’s road races featured a slew of tough climbs.
Ritchie, Halter, Allan, Heinemeyer and Maloney all did time trial-road race doubles, while Carolyn Russell, Jodi Wendland and Sinéad Tracey earned the remaining women’s titles.
The men’s road race champs were Brian Countryman, Willy Van Sevenant, Pierre L’Ecuyer, Lorenzo Caterini, Bruce Bird, Shannon Hunt, Andrew Conley, Olivier Hamel and Jerome McNicoll.
The criterium
The championships wrapped Sunday with criteriums through downtown Calgary.
Olivier Hamel and David Collings won the masters A men’s races, Andrew Conley and François Doyon topped masters B, Eugene Hahn and Greg Cavanagh took masters C. Daniel Blanche, Willy Van Sevenant and Pierre L’Ecuyer won the masters D categories.
Emma Scott and Stephanie Flynn took the dubs in the women’s masters A criterium titles. Shantel Koenig and Carolyn Russell won masters B, Dawn Heinemeyer claimed masters C and Anna Tykoliz took the masters D crown.
