The family of Ashley Arason has made a desperate plea for her to come home.
The 41-year-old last had contact with her family on April 6, 2019, which was her 34th birthday.
“I’ve got a place for her,” said her older sister, Pamela Arason, through tears on Thursday. “She has a place to go, a home to come to.”
On Thursday, Winnipeg Police Service renewed the call for help from the public to solve the missing person case.
Arason said Ashley is a wonderful person who is deeply missed by her mother and many other family members. She recalled that seven years ago, she got to wish her sister a happy birthday and then, “she was gone.”
“I was the last one who saw her,” she said.
Arason has had to struggle with a long list of health issues, including numerous brain tumours, without the support of her sister, who was her “best friend.”
She is scheduled to undergo more surgeries and she worries she doesn’t have much time left.
“I want my sister to come home,” Arason said. “I need her back.”
Arason, 43, said the two of them had big plans, including going bungee jumping and sky-diving on her 40th birthday. The sisters had gone sky-diving together more than two decades ago.
She said while Ashley had her struggles, it’s unlike her to be out of contact for so long.
She said she hopes the police notification will prompt someone who has information about Ashley to come forward.
She doesn’t believe her sibling met with foul play but suspects Ashley is living under a new identity.
“I feel she’s still alive,” she said.

She thinks Ashley, who was an aspiring fashion designer, may be in Edmonton or Toronto.
“I’m just hoping somebody notices her picture, notices that they’ve seen her, so we can know where she is, and that she’s O.K.”
In Thursday’s news release, the Winnipeg Police Service acknowledged “the hardship and pain” the family has gone through as a result of Ashley’s disappearance.
She’s described as 5-8, approximately 110 pounds, with shoulder-length blond hair and brown eyes. Police ask anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact missing person investigators at 204-986-6250 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 204-786-TIPS.
