With only nine stages and four major jersey competitions to settle, there is little room to recover from lost time or missed opportunities. Bonus seconds, sprint points, mountain points, breakaway moves and decisive race incidents can all produce significant changes from one day to the next.
General Classification Standings after Stage 7The yellow jersey has changed hands, but few would expect the new leader! The ascent to Mont Ventoux has brought the best climbers to the front of the race and it was Katarzyna Niewiadoma who set an historic time up the climb. The Polish rider attacked the climb and managed to overtake not only Demi Vollering but also Marlen Reusser in the overall classification.
Niewiadoma now leads Vollering by 15 seconds, who attacked in the final meters of the stage and overtook Reusser who is now 39 seconds behind.
Elisa Longo Borghini sits fourth 2:59 minutes behind, followed by Antonia Niedermaier. Cédrine Kerbaol and Paula Blasi followed, both gaining positions with strong ascents amongst the best. Dominika Wlodarczyk, Isabella Holmgren and Kim Le Court complete the Top10, with a few minutes over those that follow.

No real changes in the points classification this Friday. Lorena Wiebes maintains a firm lead over the green jersey which should not change hands. Kim Le Court has moved to second place but has only scored a few points. Lotte Kopecky, Noemi Rüegg and Demi Vollering follow quite close after.

The QOM classification has been virtually won by Puck Pieterse, with 55 points at a point where the race has gone through its hardest climb. Demi Vollering and Katarzyna Niewiadoma are third and fourth, still behind Nikola Nosková who continues to hold second place with 21 points.

The youth classification has not been decided, but has gained an important order. Mont Ventoux allows no-one to hide, and Canyon//SRAM did not only take the yellow jersey, but increased their lead in the youth classification.
Antonia Niedermaier finished the stage quite strongly, and has gotten a gap over Isabella Holmgren who lost some minutes on the final climb. Paula Blasi climbed to second place but is 1:11 minutes away, a difficult gap to close down. Nienke Vinke could not withstand the pace of those in front and has lost ground to her rivals.

UAE Team L’IMAD virtually sealed the win of the teams’ classification on Mont Ventoux due to the strong performances of Elisa Longo Borghini, Paula Blasi and Dominika Wlodarczyk. The trio all finished amongst the best in a stage with massive gaps, where rival teams did not have the same depth or goals.
