PORTLAND (WGME) — There is a new mental health center in Portland.
Casco Bay Recovery Center opened what it calls a state-of-the-art mental health outpatient program.
It’s at the recovery center on Brighton Avenue, near Rand Road.
The center offers art therapy, yoga therapy, nutrition and more.
The clinical director says there may be people who are in therapy and need some extra support but aren’t at the level where they need hospitalization.
“There’s not a lot of programs that can be in that in-between space versus where you have individual therapy over here and hospitalization over here, there’s not a lot of resources in Maine to kind of meet people in the middle, and so we’re working to try and expand the services that are available in Maine,” Clinical Director Bella Nelson said.
The outpatient program is four days a week, from 9 a.m. to noon, with more times available in the future.
