Kayla McBride delivered a historic basketball shooting performance for the Minnesota Lynx, setting a new WNBA record in a 103-90 victory over the Dallas Wings on Sunday, 9 August.
She broke the single-game record with her 10 three-pointers in front of her home crowd as she also sank a career-high 43 points.
“Minneapolis has become home for me and I want to give my best,” she said in a post-game interview. “Whether the ball goes in or doesn’t, I just feel so much love. I think that’s why I can come out here and do my thing. I feel so loved and appreciated for who I am and I just love the game. I want to win.
“I’ve been in this league 13 years, and choosing to come back here in the offseason, I didn’t know, we didn’t know what it was going to look like. Moments like this, times like this, it’s when you know you made the right decision.”
Minnesota, who have had an incredible offensive run, hitting the 100-point mark in four of their last six games, also became the first team to clinch a playoff berth.
