Kelowna golf tournament raised over $200K, breaks fundraising record

It was a record-breaking year at the annual Wilson M. Beck Charity Golf Tournament in Kelowna, as over $200,000 was raised for the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
On July 20, 2026, the 16th rendition of the tournament was held at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club. Through sponsors, donors, golfers, volunteers and community partners, the event raised $206,582, the most in its history.
The funds will go to the YMCA’s Financial Assistance program, which helps people access YMCA programs and services, who otherwise may not have had the means to do so.
“These contributions support affordable child care, camp experiences, mental health services, health and wellness programs and opportunities for connection and belonging,” the YMCA of Southern Interior BC said in a release.
“What makes this event so special is that its impact reaches far beyond a single day on the golf course,” said Tammie Watson, vice president of marketing and philanthropy at YMCA of Southern Interior BC. “Because of our community’s generosity, more children can attend camp, more families can access affordable child care, and more individuals can access the supports they need to thrive. At a time when many are facing increasing pressures, these funds help ensure no one is turned away from the Y because of financial circumstances.”
Kelowna-based company Wilson M. Beck Insurance Services was the tournament’s title sponsor.
Over 140 golfers played in the tournament.
“The success of this event is a testament to what can happen when businesses, community leaders, volunteers, and supporters unite around a shared purpose,” adds Derek Nyrose, Golf Committee Chair, “Together, we’re helping build brighter futures and ensuring the Y remains accessible to everyone who needs it.”
