Former Portland State quarterback Davis Alexander came up big during a showdown of the Canadian Football League’s top two teams over the weekend, leading Montreal to a 48-30 win over Edmonton.
Alexander put the Alouettes up 7-0 with a 10-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and Montreal stayed a step ahead the rest of the game.
In addition to his early rushing TD, Alexander completed 22 of 28 passes for 352 yards and four passing touchdowns.
Alexander hit Tyson Philpot down the middle for a 56-yard touchdown strike to put the game away 41-17 with 6:03 to play.
Alexander led the CFL with 3,140 passing yards this season, while throwing for 18 touchdowns and only two interceptions.
Montreal leads the league with an 8-1 record.
