Anne Hathaway, who is pregnant with her third child, showed up belly first to the Los Angeles premiere of The End of Oak Street on Sunday evening wearing low-rise La Ligne jeans and a cropped Prabal Gurung halter top that skimmed the top of her belly button. Unfortunately, the sight of Hathaway’s bare belly set off some bizarre rumors that she is somehow faking her pregnancy, which Hathaway now has to address. So, for the record, the belly is real.
In an Instagram post on Monday, Hathaway promoted her new movie while also debunking X and TikTok comments claiming her belly “looks fake.” Alongside a video of herself getting ready for and arriving at the The End of Oak Street premiere, Hathaway wrote in the caption, “Fake hair, real bump.” She added, “Enjoy The @endofoakstreet Block Party chaos with me as my outfit literally melts in the heat!!”
In general, many people have had a hard time being normal about Hathaway’s pregnancy since she announced it in June. From cannibalism memes on her announcement video, to attempts to decode the shape of her belly, to general hand-wringing about women over the age of 40 getting pregnant, the world is full of opinions on Hathaway’s reproductive life. At what point does the madness end and we just let everybody’s bumps be?
