A burger chain will replace a Popular Pizza location in Mississauga.
Popular Pizza, a franchise established in 1997 with locations across the Greater Toronto Area, will close the Streetsville restaurant at 17 Tannery St.
The pizza place has been in the Tannery Street location for over 10 years. Previously, a Pizza City was in the unit. Popular Pizza has mixed reviews on Google. Some praised the service and tasty pizza, while others criticized the flavour of the pies and customer service.
The restaurant is marked as permanently closed on Google.
Grind Burgers is set to open in the spot, the company announced on Instagram.
Founded in 2019, the burger restaurant has locations in Georgetown and Stoney Creek.
The chain specializes in smash burgers, made to order using 100 per cent fresh ground chuck beef, Grind Burgers says on its website.
A smash burger is created by pressing the ground meat on the skillet, creating a thin patty with lacy, crispy edges. The process maximizes the seared surface for a flavourful crust.
Grind Burgers are served on a brioche bun with the customer’s choice of toppings.
“What began as one location in 2019 has grown through the support of our loyal customers and our dedication to freshness, quality, and flavour,” Grind Burgers said.
The menu also includes veggie burgers, chicken burgers, peameal bacon sandwiches, steak sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs. Deep fried pickles, waffle fries, poutine, onion rings and poppers are also on the menu.
The exact opening date has not yet been announced.
