One person has been charged and police are searching for at least three suspects after a home invasion more than a year ago turned into an armed confrontation north of Brampton.
The break-in happened shortly before 5 a.m. on March 31, 2025, when the OPP says four male suspects entered a home on Old King Road in the Bolton area of Caledon.
One of the suspects brandished a firearm and police say the culprits were armed with “numerous” guns.
But police said there was a confrontation between the would-be burglars and one of the home’s occupants, and one of the suspects fired a gun during the break-in.

Police say minor injuries were reported.
Now, more than a year after the incident, investigators say they’ve made one arrest.
On July 6, the OPP says Joseph Higgins, 24, of Ajax, was arrested and charged with two counts each of unauthorized possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm and failure to comply with release order, and one count each of reckless discharge of a firearm, robbery using a firearm, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of an automobile master key and possession of an identity document.
Police have released images of the suspects, and say the investigation is ongoing.
